After this selection has been made the user can launch the Network and Sharing Center directly from the Set Network Location window. Should a customer utilize a router and maintain a home network, the Home Network Location will allow for file, media, and printer sharing. Most Mediacom customers will want to choose Public as their Network Location when directly connected to the modem. This setting can be changed in the Network and Sharing Center, which will be discussed a little later. (Optionally, the user can select to have new networks automatically treated as Public Networks and avoid this prompt in the future. In this window the user can determine the type of network this connection best describes: a Home Network, Work Network, or Public Network.
